Wolfenbüttel
Creative, fresh and homemade.
If we were in Berlin, Zimmerhof 13 would probably be considered a casual spot. In Wolfenbüttel, the restaurant in the heart of the city is almost still an insider tip.
Historic half-timbering meets modern ambience here - and a concept that is unique in Wolfenbüttel. Seasonal and regional dishes, the finest drinks, and German wines.
The rooms were redesigned with great respect for the old substance and the right feeling for the combination of half-timbering and modern elements. Rustic and noble at the same time, cozy, but also with a certain style.

It doesn't get any narrower than that!
An absolute highlight for your next visit to the city is the narrowest house in Lower Saxony. With a width of only 2.20 meters and built in 1751 in the Kleiner Zimmerhof, this architectural marvel offers six rooms on 103 m² over three floors, complemented by a garden and a winter garden. A perfect background for unique photos in "narrow format".

Time travel to the Middle Ages
A stroll through lovingly restored half-timbered alleys takes you through the eras. Krumme Strasse, located in the southern part of the city centre, is one of the most romantic alleys in the city with its crooked half-timbered houses. Many small flower boxes set colourful accents between the historic façades, while the tower of the main church rises majestically in the background. This street, which is built exclusively with half-timbered houses, is really not to be missed.

Picnic area at the pond Salzdahlum
This secluded picnic area is located on the outskirts of the village near the allotment garden. Directly on the thoroughfare and yet in the middle of the greenery. Ancient trees grow on the small area and the branches hang almost into the water. There are benches to relax on and a picnic table on a small lawn. There is a bridge over the pond from where you can watch the fish and animals in and on the pond. In summer it is shady here due to the many deciduous trees. A small oasis of peace directly on the busy road. Quickly accessible from different sides to pause briefly or take a longer rest on a tour.
A trash can is available.

Guelph Crypt
In the Guelph Crypt, the members of the Guelph family lie in sarcophagi, some of which are richly decorated and artistically very valuable. While Heinrich Julius was buried here in 1613 in a comparatively modest manner, other sarcophagi are of impressive opulence, such as the double coffin of Anton Ulrich and his wife Elisabeth Juliane. After being inaccessible for over 30 years, visitors have been able to tour the lavishly renovated Guelph Crypt since 2015, either as part of a guided tour or on their own, and marvel at the sarcophagi in the long corridors. Various display panels provide information about the Guelph princes buried there and their relatives, who were interred here until 1767.

Wolfenbüttel
Half-timbering, Lessing and Jägermeister
These three are outstanding and characteristic for Wolfenbüttel. Half-timbered houses determine the cityscape: With about 1000 half-timbered houses, the old town is almost completely preserved and lovingly renovated - this can be easily observed from here. The poet and Enlightenment philosopher Gotthold Ephraim Lessing lived and worked in Wolfenbüttel for the last 11 years of his life. Even today, some of his places of work are preserved and invite you to visit them.
And the famous herbal liqueur? It comes from Wolfenbüttel. Always, and still today. That's what it says on every bottle, by the way. Of course, Wolfenbüttel is much more. Over 900 years of town history are waiting to be discovered.

Wolfenbüttel
From malt to beer
In the beginning was the grain, in this case malt, and in the end came out a delicious beer and even bread. But in between there was a lot of work for the liquid bread, the beer.
A whole day to experience the process of brewing beer and after the fermentation process also get a bottle of "his" home-brewed beer. That is really lessig and times what different.
